Chocolate Dessert Hummus

Hummus for dessert?! This Chocolate Dessert Hummus recipe adapted from our cooking class, Plant-based Meals, demonstrates the versatility of the humble garbanzo bean and will satisfy any sweet tooth. Still not sure? Try it for yourself!

Chocolate Dessert Hummus – Serves 4

INGREDIENTS: 

  • 1 15-ounce can chickpeas rinsed, drained 

  • ¼ cup cocoa powder

  • ¼ cup maple syrup

  • 1 tablespoon nonfat milk (or unsweetened almond milk)

  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract

PREPARATION:

1. Add all ingredients to a food processor or blender and blend until smooth. If mixture is too thick, add additional milk, 1 tablespoon at a time, until desired consistency is reached.

2. Transfer to a bowl and enjoy with fresh fruit, graham crackers, or pretzels.
